The weather is finally cooling off, feeling like Fall, therefore resulting in the best days spent at home playing with the little one or running errands around town. Pumpkin candles are on repeat along with toddler… More
Organizing my house is one small way for me to feel like I have a little bit of control on life when it feels like other areas of my life are full of chaos. So when I can find new ways to keep things organized, like this makeup box, I feel like there has been a small victory won.
When I get into cleaning and organizing mode my husband has learned to just let me do my thing and steer clear. He always loves the end product so he doesn’t mind giving me some time to myself to get things done. So today I’m going to share with you a few ways I have learned to keep our home organized and clean.
This coming weekend we will be taking our first family pictures, I know I know – wayyyy overdue!! I figured now that Harper is about to be 9 months I’ve waited long enough to get some family portraits done. So with the pictures in mind I knew I needed to start planning outfits, because if I didn’t who would? Definitely not my husband. If it weren’t for me he would still be wearing clothes he bought 10 years ago. The man does not like to shop. Lucky for him, though, that his wife does and I will gladly pick out his clothes for him for the rest of his life. I just need to work on getting him to get rid of the clothes he already had when we first started dating 😉
So when thinking about coordinating outfits for pictures there are several things you want to consider:
- SEASON: You want to dress for the season you are in and don’t deviate from that. This will be your “theme” for the pictures.
- COLOR SCHEME: Think about the way the colors will look framed and on your wall. I love light and airy with some pops of color so I stuck with that same color scheme for our outfits. It will flow with the rest of the house when I have them framed.
- PATTERNS & SOLIDS: I love love love patterns but I also know that too much of it can be a bad thing. So I opted for a classic striped top for myself, an adorable floral print shirt and short set for Harper, and the perfect green button up for Tom. Tom’s solid shirt will balance out the bold floral print and the classic stripes.
- CLASSIC vs. TRENDY: Depending on your style will determine this category. I love classic with a touch of trendy. Which is exactly why I chose all of these pieces together. The overall look is fairly classic but I wasn’t afraid to add some of our own personality into the mix. For those reasons I chose the classic stripes with some trendy fringe and crochet detailing. It adds that extra bit of fun without overpowering the whole outfit. For harper I chose a bit of a more trendy pattern that goes with the classic shirt and short set. I think outfit sets are timeless and perfect. For Tom I went with a very traditional classic look of a solid spring green button down and dark fitted jeans. I think the key here is BALANCE!!
- SETTING: Know the setting where your photographer will be taking your pictures. This is key when making your outfits flow with the scenery. We will be taking sunset dessert pictures here in Arizona so these outfits will go with that specific setting. If you’re going for a more rustic country look then you have to dress that part. It’s all about coordination.

Oh how I love the off-the-shoulder trend!! I bought this shirt several years ago during college and I’m so glad I did. It is a staple in my closet and if you don’t have one, don’t walk but run to the store and buy one now!! It is perfect for date nights, brunch with the girls, or even going to the beach. I loved it paired with my go-to distressed skinnies, black strappy heels, my beautiful new Rebecca Minkoff bag, and some fun palm-green geometrical dangly earrings for a little sparkle!
Wedding season is in full effect and that means finding the perfect dress for the special occasion. Wedding’s are romantic, a little serious and a whole lot of fun, so whether you’re going with your significant other, a friend, or by yourself you’re going to want to have that perfect dress that fits the style of the wedding and your own style. I bought my favorite cocktail dress a few years ago at Zara for a formal in college and it is now my go to dress for weddings! There are so many things I love about this dress and only one thing I hate, the fact that I don’t have it in more colors. I love the low back with the scoop neck in the front, the structured fit and flare makes for the perfect shape and fit, and although you can’t see it in pictures the material is ivory with a light blue cheetah like textured pattern. From afar and in pictures the dress just looks like a very pale blue solid color. It is quite the work of art and I love it!!
Below I’ve attached a few of my favorite dresses for various wedding dress codes!
Nordstroms BB Dakota Dress – I love this flirty but classy lace cut out dress! It’s perfect for any spring or summer time wedding. Whether it be semi-formal or dressy casual this dress can be worn time and time again. You can’t go wrong!!
Lulus Two-Piece Dress – This two piece ivory and blue floral midi dress is to die!! I imagine wearing this to a Sunday afternoon wedding paired with matching blue pointed toe heels. I love how the length of the skirt gives the look a more classic and elegant feel, but the revealing midriff adds just a touch of sexiness balancing the whole outfit out and leaving you with the perfect wedding look.
Lulu’s Boho Ivory Dress – I’m in love with this super fun casual boho maxi dress. If you’re going to a more relaxed outdoor wedding this dress is perfect on so many levels. The fluttering short sleeves make up for the sexy slit up the front of the dress and the ruffled hem gives it that fun and flirty vibe. All around the perfect dress!!
Lulu’s Convertible Maxi Dress – If you’re going to a formal black tie required wedding then you definitely want to have this convertible maxi dress. The flow and lay of the dress is absolutely stunning and will stand out in the crowd. You can wrap it any which way to make the dress fit your style and body.
So a couple of weeks ago I snagged a few new items for my office which led to a little bit of rearranging of my desk! I’m now uhb-sessed with the way it looks! It has become my quiet getaway when I need to unwind, relax a little, and get some work done! Isn’t that how an office should make you feel?
I bought this adorable stool at target on clearance for only $20, originally 65!! It was like they were giving it away! It has been the perfect addition to my office for when I want to prop up my feet or if I want to display any new items for pictures. Just love. To the right is Targets advertisement for the stool and I love it for a living room as well! It doesn’t fit in our living room but maybe one day 😉
I bought this vase and the flowers at hobby Lobby. I originally had this placed in my daughter’s room but I love how it brightens up my office and gives it that spring feeling
This pillow was another one of my awesome clearance finds at Target for only $7, originally $20. I am a firm believer in throw pillows all over the house even though I think my husband thinks I’m crazy every time I buy another pillow. But it was $7, I mean come on how could I pass that deal up? Not gonna happen!! I! thought the pillow gave the office a much more relaxed and comfy vibe, which I love
As my daughter takes a nap I’m sitting here dreaming of these beauties and hoping they find their way to my closet the same way they found their way to my heart!! I’m just obsessed with every single one. What’s on your this Spring?

This past week I was visiting my hometown of Austin, Texas for my best friends wedding and I could not be more exhausted! If you’ve ever traveled alone with a baby then you understand my situation! It’s definitely not easy. However while I was in Austin I was able to do a little shopping and snagged up these perfect Indio sunglasses from Madewell. They are perfection! So perfect that when I got home my husband even noticed them, which is a rare occurrence for any man to notice something new on a woman. He asked if he could wear them… that was a hard pass!
Anyways I’m just loving these sunglasses with this casual look in my always dependable distressed lucky jeans and this adorable vintage tee I got from Target! Pair this look with any tennis and you’re good to go!
If you’re headed to the beach this spring break or any time for that matter this tie dye maxi is a must!! It has the perfect flow to it and it’s just so light and airy for any vacay. The mix of blue hues with the bright white is probably my favorite part of this dress. The tie dye details are literally perfection!! I paired it with my Kendra Scott chalcedony studs, Michael Kors watch, and my white and gold Kendra Scott bracelet.

If you live in the south you understand the brutal summers, the horrendous humidity and the fact that there are only 2 seasons. However living in the south doesn’t always have to be so bad, there are just a few perks. For example it’s February and currently 80 degrees outside. Therefore I have the pleasure of pulling out a few of my favorite spring/summer pieces. This ensemble is probably one of my favorite outfits thus far! The floral print miniskirt is everything and I love it paired with this pleated hem blouse. When I was rummaging through my closet for all of these pieces I loved the idea of only using neutrals with this bright colored skirt. It tones down the outfit just enough to balance it out!
